Incivility is being persistent nowadays; ironically, it is evident at workplaces as it continues to grow as well in most areas of the society. Several newspaper reports point out that incivility is growing in the United States which threatens civility at work and in the society in general.
In an attempt to building a civil workplace, one must first trace the root causes of lack of civility. Study shows, for instance, that incivility is caused by several factors which fuels up the problem. These include the culture of blame and disrespect, existence of high conflict individuals, or mishandling of organizational leadership.
It was pointed out that workplace bullying solutions may be implemented not in a manner of admonishing people to be civil or decent, but by having civility training to focus on specific skills. With the aforementioned causes of civility, it was pointed out that specific skills can be taught to employees to respond properly to uncivil or abusive behavior. Furthermore, undergoing specific skills trainings might instantly work, although they need a lot of practice under pressure.
