Wait… HR Made Workplace Bullying Worse?

by Aug 19, 2026

You’ve got a lot on your plate. Employee relations, compliance, performance issues, culture, and the occasional grown adult who apparently needs to be reminded not to terrorize their coworkers. Making workplace bullying worse certainly isn’t supposed to be on the list.

And yet, research into workplace bullying points to a frustrating reality: reporting bullying to HR doesn’t always make things better. In some cases, employees say the response they received actually made their experience worse.

Ouch.

I know. Nobody wants to hear that—especially you. You got into this work because you genuinely care about people. You spend your days navigating everyone else’s problems, putting out fires you didn’t start, and somehow still being expected to plan the holiday party.

The last thing you want to hear is that HR might be part of the problem. But we need to talk about it.

That’s exactly why we’re kicking off our Workplace Intelligence Series next week with:

Research Says HR Makes Bullying Worse: Let’s Fix That

We’re digging into where HR’s response can go wrong, why some of our go-to approaches can unintentionally make bullying worse, and, most importantly, what HR can do differently.

And this won’t be one of those webinars where someone talks at you for an hour while you answer emails on another screen. If you’ve attended one of Catherine’s webinars before, you know they’re highly interactive.

Come prepared with your questions, experiences, and opinions. You’ll have the chance to engage with Catherine and fellow professionals while walking away with practical, actionable tools you can actually use.

Plus, you’ll earn 1 SHRM and HRCI recertification credit, and we’ll have some giveaways for select attendees because, well, learning is better when there’s free stuff involved.

Join us August 26 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

We’d love to see you there!

P.S. This is just the beginning of our Workplace Intelligence Series! Join us for the sessions most relevant to you, or register for the full series and get the whole shebang.
